Our Sunday 10:00 a.m. worship service, in our historic 1774 meetinghouse, reflects our rich, yet simple, Congregational heritage. All ages will find a warm welcome, traditional hymns, and a Biblically-grounded message that is relevant to the needs of 21st century individuals and families. We use the recently-published Hymns of Truth and Light.
During the summer (Father's Day through the last Sunday in August), we expand our schedule to offer two Sunday worship experiences to fit in with your busy schedule. At 8:30 a.m., we gather in our Chapel in the Woods (on Sheldon Street, behind the Reeves Education Center) for a half-hour, informal service in the midst of God's beautiful creation. You'll hear the Scripture reading of the day and the pastor's message and prayer in their entirety. Dress is very casual. If it rains on Sunday or Saturday, the service is held in the Parish Hall.
All Christians are welcome to celebrate The Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) with us the first Sunday of each month during our worship service(s).
Special Worship Services
In addition to Sunday mornings, our congregation gathers for worship:
Ash Wednesday at noon and 7 p.m.
Maundy Thursday Meal in the Upper Room (sponsored by our Women's Service League, this tribute to Jesus' Last Supper touches the hearts of many) and Tenebrae (extinguishing of the lights, a commemoration of Jesus' passion) at 6:30 p.m.
Easter special services (at 9 & 11 a.m., instead of our regular 10 a.m. service)
White Gifts (the children's Christmas pageant, usually the 2nd Sunday of December at 4 p.m.)
Christmas Eve (a family-oriented service at 4:30 p.m., and a candlelight service at 11 p.m.)
Annual worship celebrations
Each year, we bid a special welcome during our Sunday morning worship to the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts (2nd Sunday of February), the Girl Scouts and Brownies (2nd Sunday in March), graduating seniors (the 2nd Sunday in June), and public and private school teachers. We would welcome the opportunity to welcome your community organization as well - contact the pastor for more information.
