KCC Music Committee

Meeting Minutes – Sep. 10, 2006

Attending: Greg Benoit, Pawel Jura,  Steve Wnuk, Kay Murray, Deirdre Hooge, Judy Zuffelato, Visiting: Rev. Howard Seip, Liz Chase

The meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m.

Minutes of the June meeting were approved.

Steve gave the highlights of the Church Committee Meeting.  We suggested to the Church Committee that the Employee Personnel Policy be reviewed and updated as a project for 2006.

Existing Business

-         Sr. Choir robes cleaned.  Make-up is staining collars.  Pawel will ask ladies to be careful about make-up.  Price is $7 - $9 per robe for cleaning, so we will rotate robe cleaning for Bell Choir and Junior Choir.  This year we will clean the Jr. Choir robes.

-         Antoinette Pajor of Berlin Social Services has not responded to our request to find a home for our old choir robes.  Steve will check with contacts he has in New Orleans.  We  have about 40 green Sr. Choir robes and 12 yellow Jr. Choir robes.

New Business

-         Music Theory class will be held probably in conjunction with rehearsals for the Christmas Cantata.  Pawel is organizing the schedule now..

-         Need to rotate some of the Hymnals in the Sanctuary.  We will do this at our Nov. meeting.

-         Since April 8 is Easter, the Spring concert should probably be in March.  Please check your calendars so we can decide on a firm date at next meeting.  Also bring suggestions for groups we should invite to perform.

-         Budget is due Nov. 1 to the Trustees.  We need to include refurbishment of Bells.

-         A baby grand piano is available.  Asking price is $6000 or best offer.  Pawel will check out the piano next week.

Music Director’s Report

-         Organ problem was fixed this past week.

-         CCSU recitals are a possibility for late Nov. or early Dec.  Pawel will check-out..

-         Representatives from Bell Choir attended camp this past summer and have returned with lots of new music.  Thanks to the Dyson family for their donation of Bell Choir music.

-         Pawel had a question about employee personnel policies regarding his vacation over the past years of his employment.  What was he entitled to?  What did he receive?  What do we do about any discrepancy?  Greg will review with the Trustees.

Our next meeting will be Sun, Oct 8, 2006 at Noon. (Please note date change.)

The meeting adjourned at 12:29 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Steve Wnuk

Secretary
